NEW APRIL 2011
NEW - From the FHSAA Historian's Desk ~
In an effort to make the Historian Reception the most memorable for everyone including the 100th graduating class, I have chosen to develop an interactive opportunity. We will be joining history and space with the Old Fruitland High School. It is only natural to combine our treasures and display them for all the alumni. Not only will you be able to browse through articles and photographs conjuring up memories of the past, you will have an opportunity to view articles of apparel from previous alumni, community memorabilia, a band instrument from 1933 and listen to music from days gone by.
Just a tip ~ bring your old albums with you and enjoy conversation with classmates and others from multiple era's. Take a chair in the old theater and enjoy great conversation, a cup of Starbucks coffee, punch and other light refreshments. The Historian Reception will run concurrently with the alumni registration across the street in the Fruitland Community Park. Come join us after you register. I look forward to this event and meeting all of you once again,."All School Reunion" Scheduled for June 24,25,26 - 2011 - Check that date now!

NEW - Come celebrate the 100th Graduating Class!
Take time to stop and think how truly fortunate the members of the 100th graduating class and the FHS alumni are to be celebrating this very special graduation. It kind of comes down to, "more luck than good management." We were all lucky to be born when we were to either be in the 100th graduating class or to be here to celebrate with the 100th graduating class!
Your FHS Alumni Association hosted a reception for this very special class April 22, 2011. What a wonderful event that was! Pres. Wallace Pullen '53 was emcee and welcomed all the future new members to the F.H.S.A.A. Board Member Jess Herndon '47 gave a history of the alumni association and Wallace asked each Council Member who was there to speak briefly ~ Treasurer Connie Barowsky Surmeier, Membership Chair Anita Pritzl Peutz '64, Board Member Larry Vaughn, Board Member Dick Groves, Class Rep Fern Keck '40, Honored Class Rep Judy Baines '61, and Immediate Past President Mary Beth Stephens McLean '54.
Dick Groves has been working long and hard on a very special Power Point presentation and it is magnificent! You are all going to want a copy of that. It even kept the attention of the 102 seniors and some parents and grandparents, so you KNOW it was good! The class advisors and some students gave a darling skit. We all got a big chuckle out of that. It was a Spoof on all their high school teachers who are F.H.S. Alumni. There are several. They all did a great job and it was enjoyed by all.
One of F H S Broadcast / Communications students recorded the reception, so that will be the beginning of the video disc of the 2011 All-School Reunion. You will want a copy of that, too! The Senior Class President thanked the alumni association when the program was over and everyone enjoyed the refreshments ~ cheesecake and punch.
Some of the students had not really paid much, if any, attention to this "100th graduating class hype"; their words, not mine. But after the reception, they came up and told us they were REALLY GLAD they were in that class! Some said they were HONORED to be in this class. Connie told them we had a coin minted for the 100th Graduating Class and they would each receive one at the Commencement Exercises. They finally realized how special they really are. And what a great group of young people! They were well behaved, showed respect to the elders, appreciated what we did and many of them came up and talked to us afterwards. They are a delightful group of young people and both Mr. Fitch, Principal, and Mrs. Fabricious, Counselor, should be very proud of them. Now, wasn't that a great way to Kick-Off the 18th All School Reunion Season?!?
The F.H.S.A.A. Council has worked hard to make this reunion the best one yet. The coins we had minted for the seniors are collectors' items and great souvenirs of this auspicious event. Alumni may purchase them for $10.00 apiece at the Fruitland Spring Fair and, if there are any left, they will be sold at the reunion registration area. We did not order a lot of them so you will want to get your order in early.
We have reserved the Fruitland Community Park for 3 days ~ Friday, June 24, Saturday, June 25 and Sunday, June 26. Classes or groups of friends are welcome to use areas of the park for get-togethers. All registration activities will be in the park. F.H.S.A.A. Hostess Leona Nelson Horn '48 will serve refreshments in the registration area. Photograph albums, up-date pages for the album and coffee mugs will be for sale in the registration area, also.
We have invited The Booster Club to set up an array of F.H.S. items including stadium blankets, folding stadium seats, jackets, shirts, yard signs, trailer hitch covers and the list goes on and on,. The money you spend with The Booster Club will help fund F.H.S. activities, so take your time and think of all the gifts you can buy at the Booster Club Booth. Marilyn Evans Russell '59 and Gerald Russell '58 will be hosting both the Nu Acres Residents and their friends over under the big old shade tree in front of our old High School. Konnie Hale Baines '57 and staff will be giving tours of The Olde School Community Center and hosting a reception for the 3 honored classes ~ '59, '60 and '61.
Brian Dyer, F.H.S.A.A. Historian '72, will be hosting a reception in the Olde School Auditorium. The 2 breakfasts and the banquet will be enjoyable for all who attend.
Celebrating the 100th F.H.S. Graduating Class is an historical event in our little town in our lifetime. Come to the reunion and enjoy every minute of the weekend. Having been with the seniors at their reception, I can tell you we can be all be proud of that exclusive group of young people!
Congratulations Fruitland High School Class of 2011! You are truly special! Hold your head high and be proud of the fact that you were in the 100th graduating class from dear ole' F.H.S.!

Another Elegant Evening at the Four Rivers Cultural Center
We will be having our banquet at the Four Rivers Cultural Center again this year with only a few changes. We will be gathering to "Reminisce and Reflect" at 4:00 P.M., Saturday, June 25, 2011. Since we are celebrating the 100th graduating class from Fruitland High School, Dick and Amy will be entertaining us with live music from the last 100 years! There will be a dance floor for all of you who enjoy dancing and the no-host bar will be open with beverages for everyone's taste, including soft drinks and bottled water. Dick Groves "65", made a fantastic Power Point presentation of the last 100 years at F.H.S. and it will be shown on the big screen on the west end of the banquet hall, which will be the front of the room this year, so everyone can see.
There will be two buffet tables and two carving stations as we had last year. This year's menu will be Roast Baron of Beef, Chinese Style Mafa Chicken, Herbed New Baby Red Potatoes, Penne Alfredo, Tossed Green Salad, Chinese Chicken Salad, Fruit Salad, Dinner Roll with Butter, Coffee, Tea, or Lemonade and a Special Dessert honoring the graduates. Remember, this is an "All You Can Eat Buffet", so do not be bashful about going back for more food! There will be plenty. The buffet will be $23.00 per person. The bar will remain open throughout the evening.
After dinner we will have a short program, then election of officers for the next reunion June 27, 28 and 29, 2014, when the honored classes will be the Classes of '62, 63 and '64.
We have the Cultural Center rented until 10:00 P.M., after the banquet. We have live music, a dance floor and a bar, so you may resume dancing, visiting and just having a good time.
At 10:00 P.M., you are welcome to meet friends and classmates on the lower level of The Olde School Community Center to extend the evening. Bring your own beverage and snacks to share, if you would like to.
Please e mail any address changes you might have to us.
